In 1946 a local association was formed as the 'Royal Navy Old Comrades Association'. This semi-formal group evolved to a more permanent local naval association. In 1950 the RNA was formed and the Plymouth RNOCA evolved further into the Plymouth Branch of the Royal Naval Association that we know today. The branch is one of the largest and longest established branches in the country. 2026 marks the 80th year of the presence of a Royal Naval Association in the city of Plymouth.
