Who We Are

Our family-run business has a long tradition in the drinks industry. We pride ourselves on providing outstanding customer service and excellent product knowledge.

We have a distribution base in the North East of England but are mainly concentrated in the South West of the UK (Cornwall & Devon). We are expanding in all areas and will shortly offer festival coverage, wedding bars, county shows, and many other types of events.

We are most well-known for our flagship Gin, Cornish Blue Flamingo.

Meet Craig

I am Craig and I founded Mother's Ruin 1751 in July 2018 with my Husband, Joshua, and my father, Ken. My father had previously worked for twenty years in the brewing and distilling business and is now our product developer. My husband, Joshua, is creative designer, and also currently works as a dental assistant. Both Joshua and Ken are partners within the business.

My passion for Gin began whilst I was serving in the Royal Navy, sampling many different types around the world.

I had my sight set to create my very own gin, however, I believed that introducing my Gin Flights and gaining the knowledge and experience of the local gin, would first would give me a better understanding of what type of Gin I would like to create - and over time Cornish Blue Flamingo was born!

After a sudden change in location back in 2020 (mid pandemic ) we conducted a big changeover to Enterprise Court in Torpoint. The team and I spent many hours working hard to get my business afloat, attending hundreds of shows, gin festivals, running small bars, and planning a very successful event called "Gins & Fins”, where I met a lot of fantastic people and supporters. This all slowly lead to the creation of Cornish Blue Flamingo Gin!

“It was very important to me to have my Gin established and made in Cornwall. Since joining the Navy in 2002, I entered Cornwall Division, and later on, I joined HMS Cornwall. Having served for 21 years in the Royal Navy (and still serving) I have now settled in Cornwall and have married an amazing and supportive Cornishman, who knows my Gin aspirations and helps guide me to achieve them. Having met many of the Cornish distillers, I have no doubt in my mind that Cornwall produces the best Gin's in the Country.”
